Farsickness from the couch of skidmark.

Hello All,
I’ve found this site to be a wonderful analgesic for that which ails me. It’s knocked the dust off memories which haven’t been stirred for quite awhile. Thank you for that.

It has been 10 years since I’ve been back to India, you see, I did something rash and self destructive. I went and got my act together in a more or less typical fashion. This is something which seemed unthinkable, for the better part of my early life. None the less my current state of employment is stable and has shattered in length all of my other periods of employment. I’m not willing to walk away from it just now but I would like to revisit India for 3 to 4 weeks, some time within the next year. In my previous trips to India, 3 or 4 weeks would have been just gotting started and that brief amount of time would have seemed to not be worth the effort. None the less that’s where I am and what I think I can reasonably fit into my life at this point.

Cheers
skidmark

Welcome to IndiaMike!

Ma India is still there, waiting for you -- even if you only have a month! Are you going to plan a visit? Realistically, do you think you can get back to India in the next year or so? (Just curious).

Thanks wonderwomanusa.

Yes, Ma India is there, ever so patient.
I’m thinking February of ’09. I won’t likely plan out a day by day itinerary, just one place I feel the need to revisit, so that would mean arriving in New Delhi. Other than that I would have a few ideas for places and if I didn’t get to them all it would mean I found some place nice to take in for a while.

In the matter of getting back all that has ever needed was the will to do so. Despite the culture of American professionalism frowning on more than two week vacations, it’s not impossible. Two Asian co-workers have gone home for 3 weeks and another went to Africa for a month, she quit and ran off to Alaska 3 months after she got back. I miss her. A couple I know went to Southern India for 3 ½ weeks last winter. It will take a fair bit of notice to arrange at work and I’ve got more the enough Paid Time Off accumulated. I don’t use it up on 3 day weekends and call in sick like a lot of folks.

Yep, it’s just a mater of putting on foot in front of the other.

Lol!

What a subject title, and user name!! LOL!! From the couch of skidmark--i thought it was going to be another "toilets in India" thread!!!
Welcome!
I'm returning in December--firt time back in almost 40 years. So as Wondereoman said, Ma India waits patiently. this time it's Southern Ma instead of Northern Ma.

Thanks capt mahajan,
Plans are nothing really past the idea stage yet. First order of business will be to renew my passport, I won’t get very far with out that, won’t even be able to make it to Canada with out one soon.

I didn’t see any couches at the Taj Mahal but I did have to do laundry there all of a sudden, once upon a time.
You’ll enjoy the south. I always did.

Do you have some kind of siddhi powers?
Twice on this national holiday weekend, I had to go in to work.
