Family of 4 need your help please...25 days in India with a wedding in the middle
Hello everybody.
This is my first post after following threads for a few months now.
I feel I've researched a lot in preparation for our trip in December 2012 and now I am actually putting out feelers for some feedback and help. I've done the most important thing and booked plane tickets from Australia to Delhi 2nd - 28th December.Phew! With that done I now need to fill in the gaps, which is where I need some guidance.
I am traveling to India for the first time with my husband and 2 children aged 7 and 11. They have travelled a lot with us (lucky kids have been overseas every year of their life, mainly to Europe but also through some of Asia) so they are pretty adaptable.
I can gather that it takes about a day to travel anywhere, so for this reason I'm not wanting to squeeze in too much and happy to save more for other visits. Open to travelling via plane and car but not so sure about trains. With that in mind, here is our very loose itinerary for which I am needing input with regards to the order in which we travel, time in each location and how we should best get between places.
We are interested in getting a good mix of experiences; forts, palaces, nature, markets, food and immersing in this different culture. I'm mindful that our kids wont want too much of the same thing and our pace needs to be considerate of their needs and concentration span!
2nd December arrive in Delhi at night.
Preferably only one night in Delhi before starting our own self guided 13 day slow tour through the most important sights of Rajasthan (Jaipur, Udaipur and the Aravalli, Jodphur)
I also want to include a night or 2 in Agra.
On the 17th or 18th we will fly down to Goa for a wedding. We have 4 or 5 days here staying at the Park Hyatt Goa, which is where the wedding is.
Leave Goa 22nd December.
I'm not sure where to go to between the 22nd-28th December which is when we fly out of Delhi. Happy to finish off what we didn't see in Rajasthan.
Is that enough information for some feedback?
Thank you

You can visit - Option 1 - backwaters (fly into Kochi)..the backwaters are fanatastic ..places to visit ..varkala, allepey, periyar, munnar, kumarkorkam..you have an option to stay on a houseboat if you like
option 2 - is to visit Hampi, Bangalore, mysore, coorg etc( this is in the state of Karnataka - southern India)
Option 3..north east - Assam - Kaziranga national park, etc
if this interests you ..can give you more inputs

Hello Carducci
It's good you are travelling through Rajasthan in December as it is the best to visit there .Other than Rajasthan and Goa you can also go to the north of the country in the mountains i.e Shimla,Manali,Dharamshala.the weather will be touch cooler there but bearable and if you want to see the snow you can visit to the Kashmir valley.
Do ask me if you need any additional information.
Enjoy
Hoping you will have the best of your trip.....!!!!
