Bookshops in India

During my frequent tour and travel across the all over India,in search of good scholars, institutions and academic sources, a common thing I had noticed that there is a shortage of good bookshops in India.
Hence, I my own started a venture,to provide best of the Indian books on Religion.music, philosophy, tant ra.mantra,ayurveda.
During this last 30 years "Indian books centre, delhi," is now a major centre,or it may be called as institutions, which is visited by scholars from all over the world.

What a great thing to do!

Chennai has not-too-bad bookshops ---though my judgement of a bookshop is more based on the range of fiction on sale--- but not that many.

The most popular and well stocked areas of bookshope here seem to be all the management and computer sciences. To me, deathly tedious stuff!

Welcome to IndiaMike.com. Please tell more about yourself: are you Indian? Where do you come from? ...just being curious!

Is http://www.indianbookscentre.com your site ?

I have always found Bookworm very good for all my needs. They can usually track down any book I want for collection a few hours later. Plus the 10% discount comes in use.

There are quite a few book-stores in pune itself which would give anyone run for their money. Couple which I like in kpk are ones which are non-descript but have all the new-age fiction non-fiction books which I like.
There's of course the usual crosswords (3 or 4 of them) as well as 2-3 other bookstores of international repute. There are also quite a few instituions like http://www.gipe.ernet.in/ which in themselves are highly reputed research institutes. Although Gokhale institute when through some troublesome period about couple of yrs. back. There're loads of institutes & book-stores on virtually any subject, it's not for nothing that Pune is known as the Oxford of the East. Just should know whom to ask & where to look

If that is your site, it seems pretty useless: I can't get anything but

Please fill the Query Form or contact us via e-mail or phone.

The Select book shop was started by a very well read & a very wise man in Bangalore. This is a second hand book shop where you find books on so many fields. My personal library has atleast 50 per cent books from this establishment alone. He has his fans all over the globe, in case you are looking for a book that he has'nt he would send the message accross & his fans would look around & send it if they found one.

There are places near Fort in mumbai as well as some places in Delhi (Nayi Sadak), calcutta & hyderabad (don't remember the names) which are known to have long-lost books. Most of these are pavement guys while 1 or 2 even have a shop. It's always better to ask the locals as they know much better.

Nayi sarak sells mostly educational books in Delhi. Another great place for book lovers is the College Street in Kolkata.
