I'm an Indian and now back in India after Travelling almost half of the world while working and holidaying.
Came back to India after almost 4 years and found some good improvements and new trends in Travelling in India. Here are few things which I noticed: 1. Travel by Motorbikes have gone up. (as an old timer of travelling by Royal Enfields and founding member of Delhi Bullet Club, I see more and more tourists opting for travel by Bike) 2. Eco tourism is trying to fight its way up. 3. More professional tour oprerators. 4. Many tour operators in niche areas. 5. Foreign and Indian travellers open to discover new places and take detour. Do you all feel the same??? Oh yes, I live in Delhi and would be very happy to help fellow travellers coming to India. I can especially help you for Northern India, states like Rajasthan and Himalayas. Cheers Vinay

TB or Electra?
Hi Vinay
Saw your messages on LP too. Seems you are the right man to ask the questions. I plan to buy my first Enfield. I am in a fix.. whether to go for Electra or Thunderbird. I am right now in the plains of Gujarat but will be soon moving to Himachal Pradesh. I plan to travel in HP. What I hear is TB is a more of a city bike and servicing in remote areas could be a problem. Can you shed some light on this! I am not sure whether this is the right forum to ask all this... Apologies if I am breaking some rules here..!!

Go for Electra....no second thoughts.
Why? 1. Simple old engine (easy to service by any old hand) 2. Easy to add your personal touch (paint and styling etc) 3. Comes with company fitted CDI ( trouble free rides during rains and less load on battery) 4. Looks simple and great. Drop me line if you need more help on bike and your trip to North. I'm planning a trip to Spiti and Ladhakh in May-June. |
