At long last, in India!

Been anticipating my journey since May when I received an award to intern in a Biology lab in Hyderabad. Arrived a mere two days ago. Plan to work in and explore Hyderabad for two months and then hit the south with my Indian friend from the states that is a native of Bangalore. Sights such as Hampi, Sravanabelagola, Belur, Allepey and Bangalore are on the list. So far haven't seen much, just getting acclimated to the time - I seem to like to sleep in the early evenings so far, a habit soon to break. Managed to cross Habsiguda Street without succumbing to traffic and am anxious to explore some more. Don't know where to start! Think I'll walk north today. Already love the food but haven't found the famous biryani yet to my dismay. Three months is sure not long enough for Hyderabad much less the rest of the country!

Hello and have a great time.

If you can cross an Indian road - you have it sussed already!

Take care - and try to avoid too many mosquito bites ... there seems to be an increase in Chikungunya in AP and Karnataka.

How about keeping a journal on IM of your 3 months?

Thanks. And thanks for the new term, sussed. I like it. Have to take it back to the states with me. Never heard it before. Heard about the Chikungunya issues in the south, brought mucho repellent, long sleeves, pants, big socks and paranoia. I know, all the places I plan to go have it: AP, Kerala, and Karnataka. Bummer. My friend says about everyone in his family has been hit by the Chik; hope I'm bit more lucky. Currently keeping a written journal since this is always accessible, but plan to share later. Thanks for the advice.

Hope you have a great visit to India, Tybee And that you find Biryani ASAP, it's so delicious! My teens still can't cross a lot of Indian roads w/o major emotional trauma, and I'm not a whole lot better, so hats off to you!
