At last - an introduction.......
After being hooked on IM for just under a month, I thought I'd better do the "decent" thing and introduce myself.
I went to India just under 3 years' ago and the arrangements were done in such a hurry that before I knew it, I'd landed in Mumbai. No bookings anywhere, no plans - just went with the flow. With all the usual trauma that goes with India as well as all the normal kinda hassels I had a wonderful experience and would go back tomorrow if funds were available. I think a lot of you will be able to relate that India does something to you that no-one else understands unless they've been there, done that, and bought the 't' shirt. I lost my voice for 2 weeks, lost my specs going into Bangalore on the back of scooter, thought I had a spool in my camera and clicked away for 4 cities before I realized that there was nothing !! (I think that was the worst) - argued with the guest house owners about what day of the week it was, and ended up missing my flights - was taken into areas of Kolkata that I don't think anyone has been in before - 3 hours drive from the airport to the hotel - with a govenment taxi!!! I must admit on that occasion I was a bit nervous that I'd be "bumped off" and my body never discovered. And that was just a few of the things that happened, but with every challenge there was a learning curve and that was the most incredible part of the overall experience.I was only there for 5 weeks, but the lasting impression will NEVER fade. I'm from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second city, where I've been most of my life - work for a textile company on the pc side. Into my animals, wildlife of which we have plenty, nature and everything else that goes with our planet, that's good. Found IM by chance(?) on LPTT when I was trying to convince people to come and visit my country - Guess that's about it. This is a great forum and totally relaxed and friendly with a tremendous amount of knowledge for the would-be Indian traveller. I look forward to many hours in the future, chatting and reliving experiences thru other IMers!!

Welcome to Indiamike lanismac.
What was the best photo you thought you'd taken? You're going to enjoy answering that I think. ![]()

Hmmm, yes: my first trip here was a 100% photographic failure! Four blank rolls of film.
![]() I just had to shrug my shoulders and accept it as a strong message that I had to come back! ![]()
