I am SO glad I found this forum....I've been trying to find a message board like this for awhile!
Anyway, hi, I'm Kim and am engaged to a man from India (Kashmir to be specific). We currently live in the States (Minnesota) but are working on 1. getting married and 2. relocating in India this year. I have 2 sons from previous, ages 8 and 13 who cannot WAIT!!! Of course there's the fun stuff with getting the red tape worked through for the boys to go, but it's getting there. I currently work as a secretary. My husband-to-be has a few businesses in India(tourism, import/export, working on building a hotel) and we're looking forward to the trip and the settling into the new home. Anyway, Namaste, all ![]() Kim |

We have a home in New Delhi and a newly built one on the outskirts of Srinagar by Dal Lake. We'll divide our time as business, weather and conditions dictate.

Thank you everyone! I suppose it is the "grass is always greener" mindset, but I personally cannot wait to get out of the USA. My fiance' feels the same way and laments often that he's "been in this country far too long". He's very homesick

Hello and Namaskaram!
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Good luck on the move. It will be a big change for you and your boys. I trust that you have been to India before and have an idea of what's in store. Hopefully, it will go smoothly for you! |

Hi!!! Yes I'm trying to learn Kashmiri and Hindi simultaneously and yes it's very hard!!!! My youngest son is picking up Hindi very quickly (he watches a lot of Hindi movies with us) and my fiance speaks both Kashmiri and Hindi around the house a lot so we can pick it up naturally. I think it's easier for the young ones
Fortunately for me, English is spoken very widely in India, although his mom speaks almost no english - only Kashmiri and Urdu (another I'm trying to learn). It's very confusing! |

I too am trying to learn Kannada as my other half is from Bangalore where I am planning to move to later this year.. Damn, it's a hard language.. Saying that, I hope I can get by at least with my Hinglish.
