They may have a list of US citizens who have registered with them as being resident locally, but surely they won't make this public to anyone that asks? They definitely should not; it would be a huge security/confidentiality breach.

Often High Commissions and Embassies have a record of any ex-pats' groups where you can get together for coffee mornings or whatever. Whilst they won't tell you individual's names they can put you in touch with such a group, if there is one in Chennai. That might be worth a try.

...and boring!

But didn't we invite her to an IM Meetup, somewhere among the chatter? That ought to stand, because the invitation still does

Best delete my previous, as it is now meaningless!

American Girl hasn't been back for a week... I think maybe she found some Americans.

Thanks for all the responses and recommendations! I was able to take a little mini-vacation from work, thus the absense. I have 2American co-workers here with me but would stil like to correspond with someone locally as well. Perhaps IM, email or such.

As for the request on how my stomach has faired, I have not had any issues at all. Granted I did take it easy the first few days and the only place I'll drink non-bottled water is the hotel. I've tried quite a few Indian dishes but have not fallen in love with the cuisine just yet.
