Why Bangkok-Chennai/ Chennai-Bangkok so Expensive?
Why Bangkok-Chennai/ Chennai-Bangkok so Expensive?
Hey,
I am wondering why are the flights from Bangkok to chennai or vice versa so expensive as compared to from Delhi considering the distance is the same between delhi-Bangkok and chennai-bangkok.
I am in Chennai at the moment and plan to go to Bangkok at the cheapest thing. COuld anyone suggest me a way or airline
Thai airways, is so expensive which I don't really like to spend on.

Competition. TG is the only airline that flies MAA-BKK non-stop daily; while TG,IT,AI,CX,9W plus two LCCs Go and Air Asia fly DEL-BKK. I hope that answers your question
Yeah its true, the monopoly sucks for us.
Considering now, that nothing can be done for the flights from MAA-BKK, what are the other options to save down the travel costs?

The cheapest option would be to take a train or flight up the coast to Kolkata followed by a flight from Kolkata to Bangkok on Thai Air Asia.
As an example a flight from CCU to BKK on 01st Feb would cost rps 2599 whilst Indido's morning flight MAA to CCU would cost rps 3734 bringing the total to rps 6333, using a train between Chennai and Kolkata would lower this price further but add 24 hrs of travelling time.

This sounds good. Looks like It will Vostok something around 14k.for the round trip via CCU
Maybe this can help. Airasia could be interesting if you would not mind flying to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (certainly worth a visit) and go from there by train to Bangkok. There are also buses going from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok.
I just booked a oneway ticket Kuala Lumpur-Chennai with AirAsia for 85,79 Euro s.
Anyone found a cheaper way to get to Chennai?
