Actually I reckon that there would be someone on here who is either near LHR or has a relative in the the area who be happy to help.

I was in the area I would be happy to let you park on my drive/street and would drop you off at the airport all for around 40 or 50 quid. How's that for a deal?

Can anyone help?

I always park in the street near to Hounslaow Central I think it is - might be the same place as Nick H - the station is sandwiched between a pub and a bridge. normally i park where the car is overlooked by houses but not directly outside someones house and i take the rotor arm off. the car is always fine even for 5 weeks once, Must have done this 15 times now. It seems apt that the majority of residents in the street are asian

I used to park in Spring Grove on this map here

Hounslow East is just 15 or 20 minutes from Heathrow.

The streets closer to the station are strictly controlled

Looked at National Express - it's as expensive as parking as there are two of us, and as our car is pretty good on fuel I might just go for the purple parking £75 option (Thanks for all the London tips but I'm not really comfortable parking on the street as I wouldn't like it if someone parked outside our house for 18 days). I can also get 10% back through Quidco.com

Some of the pubs around staines would be on to a tidy little earner if they followed the example of farms near to Stansted.

A tip for any of you who shop in Tesco's (sorry non-UK people) - a £2.50 clubcard voucher equals £10 in airport parking, which is pretty good, unfortunately I'm a confirmed Sainsbury's girl.

Aahh Tesco.. Sainsbury's.
6 weeks in and I've forgotten how convenient life used to be.

...Mrs N just phones the local shop man and, ten minutes later he turns up with the order, however small. Even a single packet of milk.

Beat that, Tesco!

I wish I'd known about those clubcard vouchers a couple of years back!

Hi,

Well I feel immensely qualified to answer this question since I grew up a few miles from Heathrow and now live in Wales!

Right- I've done the National Express idea. They run from Swansea to Heathrow stopping at Cardiff, sometimes Chepstow, and Reading. It takes three to four hours and costs £35 return, which is WAY more than they charge to go to Victoria- the barstewards. It's dull as ditchwater but very convenient. If you're going to drive yourself, don't forget the cost of fuel on top of the parking- it does cost more. Plus you will be jetlagged when you touch down and driving won't seem so appealing.

Depending on the time of your flight, you can get a First Great Western train from Swansea to Reading, and catch the Heathrow coach from there. If you time it right you can get stupid prices on the trains. [sorry, just noticed someone's already suggested this!]

Provided you are going to be sensible and aren't alone, you could place an ad for a liftshare in the "rideshare" section on Swansea Gumtree (http://swansea.gumtree.com). Usual warnings about this kind of thing apply.

And I am indeed that person with a relative who (may) be happy to help. My parents live a 10 minute drive from Heathrow- email mrs_bood@yahoo.co.uk and perhaps we can sort something out? It will probably be on-road parking, but outside their house in a quiet area, and they're retired so they're around most of the day. From there I expect a taxi to the airport to be £15-£20, or there's a bus to the airport- the bus stop is about 10-15 minutes walk away from their house.

I can see a little cottage industry for ma and pa here....

Thank you so much for this offer, if I can convince my partner that it's a good idea I'll be in touch.

I miss Elliott Smith too! Where in Wales are you?
