US travel to Mumbai?!

Does anyone have any ideas about less expensive ways to fly from San Francisco to Mumbai in the Summer? Thanks.

Last year I flew twice with Korean Airlines. Korean was the cheapest of all the available options. I paid $1140 roundtrip from Los Angeles to Mumbai. I am not sure if they fly from SFO too or not.

They also provide free connecting domestic flight in India (Any of the 10 different cities) incase your final destination is not Bombay.

I always use an ethnic travel agent for value added..

Published fares will run you about sixteen hundred USD. For mid-june with mid-july return, NW/KL combination with a V class fare would be the cheapest. Much depends on the dates as well as stay and anticipated loads.

Surprisingly, none of the asian carriers had published fares in the same range as NW/KL combo from SFO.
