Talking Transit from London to Kolkata

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone has had to wait in Delhi airport while waiting for a connecting flight to Kolkata and how long did you have to wait?

I am thinking of using Air India this July. I know they are a cra**y airline but they have the cheapest flights so far.
Anyhoo, has anyone suffered a long wait in Delhi, do they put you up in a hotel at all? Or do they expect you to spend 9 hours in the Transit Lounge?

What's the lounge like? Are we talking about a waiting room similar to being in HELL?
Are there any facilities, to have a decent wash, are the toilets clean?

What refreshment facilities are there, can I expect stupidly expensive snacks and the like?

Thanks for letting me know in advance.

Is this your first trip to India ? If not, then the facilities in BOM/DEL will be better than the last trip of yours; and definitely much better than Kolkatta. I have seen constant improvements and changes in both airports from month to month.

Ask AI if they include a hotel stay in their cheapest ticket. It would be spelt out by the Travel Agent from whom you purchase the ticket.

1. You'll have to wait at Lounge only.

2. The newly renovated waiting lounge is very good (but always crowded) and washrooms are neat and clean.

3. There are good refreshment facilities (including one McDonalds also). And as per your expectations, snacks are sold at almost double the normal price
