Transfer Time in Delhi from domestic to intl. flight (both Air India)

Hello everybody,

I am ready to book a flight from Chennai to London with
Air India.

There is one stop in Delhi with a transfer time of
1 hour 15 minutes (12.40 pm - 13.55 pm).

Both flights are with Air India so I wonder if they will care about me getting to the plane in time?
What if not?

Do you know if the luggage can be checked through to London from Chennai?

Is 350 GBP a good price for the flight to India?

Thank you so much and greetings!

Assuming that your Chennai to Delhi flight is a domestic flight by Indian airlines which is now Air India you have too little time. You are required to arrive at the international departure terminal atleast two & half hours prior to your departure to complete security & immigration formalities.

Both flights are with Air India and I would buy a ticket from Chennai to London which is regularly sold by Air India.

My thought was that if I check in the luggage in Chennai to London and all the official part is done in Chennai Air India would take care of passengers who change in Delhi.

Is this realistic?

Thank you again!

Your thought is not realistic..

However you can up Air India and confirm your thought. Also note that if you are boarding an "IC" code flight from Chennai to Delhi and an "AI" code flight from Delhi. The way Air India functions You can easily assume they are two different airlines.

Since you will depart Chennai from the domestic terminal immigration formalities will have to be done at the international departure terminal in Delhi.
Assuming your luggage is thru checked at Chennai & your Chennai Delhi flight arrives on time, the aircraft will require minimum 15 minutes to taxi from the new runway to parking slot and the earliest you can exit the domestic arrival building it will be 13:15. The travel time from domestic to international terminal in mid day will take atleast 25 minutes so you will reach international terminal at 13:40, so you will have only 15 minutes.

Typically, if the ticket is in the same PNR; th airline will make sure you are connected... Having said that; I am unaware of what the legal minimum connect time is for the two. 75 min is the bare minimum. I have known of airlines that hold an international flight for domestic connecting pax; but not vice--verse. The reason being, in certain parts of the world, where there is only one flight per day internationally; the airline is loath to put pax up in hotels overnight because it cuts into their costing/profit matrix.

Cross your fingers, or ask for an earlier flight MAA-DEL
