Screening for Swine Flu at India Airports

Hello,

Can anybody tell me what to expect when I arrive in Delhi?

Thankyou!

had the sniffles myself last week but feeling well now, was a bit worried if I had a temp. N.ot convinced it was swine flu, but a common cold though

I don't think it will be much of a hassle. A few weeks back I was at the Indian embassy for my visa and they gave me a leaflet to fill in and hand over to the customs. I suppose you will get one of those during the flight.

I guess that will be all but don't start sneezing in front of the customs officer

I believe if they suspect you of having the flu, you will be quarantined for a week. On the bright side...it will do wonders for your budget.

Its a joke. You need to fill a form and submit it. N big deal. They have a masked health officer who looks at the form and signs it. and you move on.

Well they have installed thermal scanners, my sister had come from USA, she arrived at Chennai Airport, and all passengers have to go through a thermal scanner, and if your body temperature is greater than 38 degree celsius then you are detained.

Well I come to India about once every 4 to 6 weeks. I have been to Delhi, Bombay and Chennai and i have never been subjected to this thermal scanner. So cant confirm or deny it.

My sister came in September and told that all the passengers were subjected to thermal scanner test. These checks are only for international arrivals. Anyways if you are fit, then why worry, just come bindaaas

I was getting a bit paranoid as theres flu going around amongst people I know and I leave in 2 and a half weeks!

Just also curious what happens when you arrive. Sounds pretty simple.

You can't scan someone to determine their internal body temperature, this requires a more direct approach. Looks like another example of "security theatre".

I went through Delhi last month, and received all of the above. You fill out a paper very similar to a customs form (flight info, where you are from, where you are going, contact info). They check your temperature with one of those forehead scanners, and you walk by a thermal imaging video camera that is hooked up to a monitor that no one is paying any attention to. You hand your paper over to an agent wearing a hospital mask, who glances at your paper, signs it, and you're done.

Pretty much the same at Bangaluru end of August except I didn't notice a thermal imaging video camera
