I have blocked my ticket in Air India flight on 20th of dec and my return date is 6th of Jan.It is costing me 790$.Earlier my friend also want to accompany me(19th of dec) but now he has changed his mind, unfortunately he blocked ticket by another name.So I have to go now on 20th of december(this is ticket which I myself have blocked). What I come to know that the names are not transferable. In our case also we tried to change the name.IA flight halts at Bangkok for 2 hrs,its cheapest ailines,we were not able to get a ticket in that flight.
Yes I have to buy the AI ticket before 13th of Nov.I came Singapore by AI(480) the same flight by which I am going, its a big plane, the agent told me(Mustafa) that its an airbus. Jet airways is no doubt better than AI, but for short distance journey like in our case(5.30hrs)AI is not too bad. |

An added update - my friend went Air India from UK to Delhi, recently. She said it was appalling - on another thread I mentioned how the toilets were overflowing onto the carpet in the cabin. She said the smell was terrible. The air hostesses were not very good, nobody even attempted to fix the toilet problem. Food was just o.k. She has a return back in December and is dreading it. If you are on a short haul ride, maybe not so bad... in otherwords you can put up with it for a shorter trip!

oh no, it sounds really terrible. I took the tiger airway budget airline quite often. At most, the toilet stinks a little bit but quite bearable, haven't seen overflowing ones..

I've just returned from a month in India that included -- because of connections -- eight (8) flights on Jet Airways and one (1) each on Indian Airlines and Air Deccan.
I cannot say enough good about Jet. Staff are friendly and more than just helpful. To give one example: my flight from Hyderabad to Chennai was delayed, meaning I'd almost certainly miss my connecting flight to Madurai by 15 or 20 minutes. When we (I and one other passenger going on to Madurai) landed in Chennai, we found that the Madurai flight had been held for us. Ground staff met us and directed us across the tarmac to our connecting flight; baggage handlers brought our checked luggage for us to confirm it was ours, then put it on the Madurai plane. My experience with Air Deccan was also good, though nothing so dramatic happened. My experience with Indian Airlines was not good. Since I was flying Delhi-Bhubaneshwar nine (9) hours after 28 hours getting from San Francisco to Delhi (via Taipei), I'd booked a business class (e-ticket) seat. Between the time of my booking and the day of the flight, IA switched the aircraft to a one-class (economy) plane. At the rather curt suggestion of a Delhi airport ticket agent, I've since e-mailed IA twice asking for a refund of the difference between the two fares. I've had no answer. Anyway . . . I wish the United States had an airline that offered the quality of service provided by Jet Airways. |

Oh, and another thing. At some airports, at least, Jet seriously enforces the one hand-carried bag per passenger. At Madurai a passenger was turned back -- to the check-in counter -- because he was carrying two rather large bags. On my Indian Airlines flight a passenger was allowed to board with three (3!) large hand bags. His co-passengers had to scamper her and there looking for a place to stow their bags because the selfish one used up an entire overhead compartment.

I'm going to avoid them when I fly back next year to OZ - usually I go Thai, but will try other ways, connections, maybe cheaper. Am on Indian Airlines from here to Delhi, but there is no other choice. And the flight is only 1 hour 10 mins.
