Jet airways has better service.
It also has persistant rumours of part underworld ownership. Safetywise, both should be on par.

I haven't flown Jet yet but have heard good things and i think their planes are much newer than IA's and similar prices i think so i think they win hands down! |

India Airlines is state owned and Jet Airways is private...
Both should be equally safe... and obviously you can expect a better service in private enterprise.. however since you are coming from the Singapore then Delhi should be 4-5 hours only...not much of a trouble in any airline.. |

I am trying to visualize an underworld airline. Safety-wise I'm sure there's no difference. Service at check-in counters and on board is vastly superior on Jet -- or was as recently as two years ago. |

Safety wise... a couple of months ago, Jet admitted, after an expose' or an inquiry (forget which) that one of their aircraft which was on a route that involved flying over water, did not have sufficient lifejackets for all passengers as mandated by law.
There may well be such instances with IA too, but I only know of this one with Jet. |

I've used both for many domestic flights - and I reckon that from a safety point of view they are both OK. Jet aircraft tend to be newer and cleaner, check-in and in flight service also tend to better on Jet.
Indian Airlines Air Hostesses can remind you of your Mum. Indian also don't look after passengers very well if there's any delay or cancellation. For long haul I prefer Jetairways. |

Same as FOTM I have flown both and would definitely prefer Jet.
Everything including washrooms (euphemism for toilets) are better - you just don't want to use Indian Airlines ones! Air Sahara and Jet are now combined I believe - both part of the underworld??? Air Sahara also o.k. but not much leg room and narrower seating, alright for short flights only. If you can get Jet same price, time okay go for them!

I would prefer Jet over IA. The customer service is better, planes are better (the one's I flew on) and the overall experience is very pleasant.

Hi Germaine,
so how is your experience with jet airway? I am from singapore too! After hearing all these reviews from indiamikers, i feel that the money i paid for is much more worth it.. Initially i wanted to get Indian Airline tics but it was fully booked till 15 jan 2008. So i went to book Jet airway, the 2nd cheapest airline to delhi.. It's quite expensive, at least to me.. IA return tics cost S$725 but Jet cost S$957.. Well.. where have you been in india? |

While the route is different my cousin in New Jersey is flying Jet this year for the long haul. She said she did the last 4 on Indian and can't take it anymore. She is done with them. I imagine for many of the reasons already listed above.
I am very curious about the "underworld" angle on Jet though. |

I might say that Jet is the second best Indian airline after Kingfisher...however latter has limited connectivity, that leaves jet at the top !!

Hi Oneheart, I am also in Singapore ,tried for IA ticket to Delhi in dec end (19,20th) but no tickets are available till January.I blocked the ticket in Air India, its costing too much(790$,up down,100$ extra) but still its far lesser than Jet Airways.
As you said in Jet airways its 957$ nearlly 160$ more than AI. |
