is 1 hour 10 minutes enough connecting time
will be flying on Asiana airline from Los Angeles to Seoul. In Seoul there is 1 hour 10 minutes wait before connecting the plane to Delhi.
Do you think this would be enough time for me to make the connection? Anyone flew this route? |

Are you flying Asiana on through to Delhi and is your luggage tagged to Delhi or Seoul?
If not then definately not enough time .. even if it it I dont think enough time. I would never book connecting international flights without at least 3 hrs gap ... 3 as a min given additional security delys etc that are routine nowadays. My advice dont risk it. Albert |

1hr for an international flight is cutting it really fine!
make sure that you will be checked in all the way thru, then the airline will have to wait.

Based on additional information - which makes me a lot more confortable) then you will be ok (if you count this as ok) on basis that if your first flight is late causing you to miss connecting flight then Asiana will put you on next available flight whenever that might be) - if necessary they may (check with the,) cover hotel fees etc. Do you know how long it is until their next flight to Delhi ... ?

The share code for Asisana is on United. I checked for past flight information and from Lax , it arrives in Seoul at 6:20 - 6:30 P.M which is 10 minutes early to on time. The Seoul flight is supposed to leave at 7:40 P.M and it shows it leaves on time.
The next flight would be two days later on Asiana. Since Asiana is with Star alliance, could they possibly book me on another airline? Also, unless i am wrong, I won't have to clear my baggage in Seoul nor should I go through immigration since I am just passing through to Delhi. am i right? |

What you say seems sensible and right to me -- you will be ok if flight arrives on time from US - my experience with long haul fights ( i have substantial experience) is that they arrive on time even if they leave an hour or so late time can be made up in flight. In 20 years of significant long hual travel I have missed one connection (was moved to a flight 4hrs later).
I am not sure whether they will move you to another star alliance - though would prob be cheaper for them then putting you up in hotel in Soeul for 2 nights. They will not leave you stranded. As you have made booking you dont have much choice .. dont worry any more - concentrate on planning your time in India.... In current world climate anything can happen .. I booked (8-9) flights about 4 mths ago for post christmas and three changes so far and I still think I am booked on a Bangkok-Phonm Penh one which no longer operates.... (reminds me to do something about it).................. things always seem to work out well in end and im sure you will be fine. Albert |

I was told my united airlines that the minimum time for international connection is 1 hour 10 minutes which is exactly what I have. united assure me that this would be enough time for my baggage to be transferred.
going have to relax now after spending a long time booking for 6 train tickets |

There is an industry standard for connecting times, the acronym is MCT. Every airline, every airport has a standard that's 'pre-set' based on historic data. When you make a reservation these are automatically taken into consideration by a machine... back in the day a travel agent or airline rep would spend hours 'creating' itineraries reading fine print books such as ABC and OAG, considered the travel agent's Bible(s).
![]() Sample: http://www.flyerguide.com/wiki/index...mes_%28AA %29 OAG: http://www.oag.com/oag/website/com/e...a ta+%28en%29 , that page is for US, other areas are available, for purchase of course. ![]() They know. |

All this would probably take 12-20 minutes on slow weekend day; or more in a crazy weekday. ICN is a very clean design operationally, so no confusions. If you are PremEx on UA/Star I suggest you alert the Onboard Leader (Head flight Attendant) of your tight connection, he/she might alert receiving agents. I have done JFK-ICN-AsiaPacific with legal minimum connection, and have made it. If you do miss your connecting flight; the other options for Asiana are to put you on a 850PM Thai Airways via BKK. Finally OZ(Asiana) has an aggregated 81% on time arrival on the flight 201 from LAX-ICN in the last two months, with average delay being 18 minutes.
