Indirect flights to India

Flights that go via the Persian Gulf - does anyone know if you need a transit visa if the plane stops there (its only for 3 hours i think)?

Via what country? You don't for Kuwait and the various emirates. Transit visas are usually only necessary if your layover is a day or more (pretty rare), so you can leave the airport for a hotel.

Another question is when you apply for a visa do they expect a return ticket? I'm applying in the UK for a tourist visa. Thanks to anyone that can answer!!

Visa qustion, when applying for a tourist visa from the uk it is not even necessary to have your outward flight booked , the question is not asked . When arriving in India the return flight thing is not mentioned , not a problem .
Hope this helps
Ps .Beware the Bahrain intl duty free , they can extract serious money !!!!

Yeah, no problems. Just get your visa, book your flight, and enjoy India.
