Heathrow to Delhi - how much!!! :(
Heathrow to Delhi - how much!!! :(
Is anyone else waiting for the price to drop from a wallet busting £615/£635 (cheapest direct option) I wish I had booked last week now Damn it (£540) serves myself right for penny pinching, hoping it would come down a bit.
I swear, if it ever comes back down to £540, I'll book right away! (I hope someones listening up there

) when are you going?
have you tried skyscanner.com?

Not going till November so hopefully the price will drop again. I've tried all the flight booking sights, they are all roughly the same price. Guess it's just a case of waiting it out - wish I'd booked last week though.
what sort of dates are you looking at?
just looked on Southall travel website and going out 16th November for a month to Delhi is £488.39 return to Delhi.
only problem is it's not direct-goes via Turkey but have heard good reports about the airline.

I will give you a snippet. You will have to hunt down a TA, who has access to netfares of Etihad Airways. Give him/her the fare basis, and take it from there.

This does not include airport taxes, landing fees, fuel surcharges etc. Hi Dan. I just tried Southall Travel for a direct London - Delhi flight (7th Nov - 3rd Dec) but the search came back negative. Definitely want to do a direct flight though.
@ nycank. Is that a direct flight? I might pop into our indi travel agent to see if they can help, would I just give them this Fare Basis Code you provided?
I guess There's still a few months left.. maybe the cost will come down (really keen on the overnight Air India flight though)
Thanks for helping guys

Any reason you are so set against non-direct? Obviously it's your choice in the end, and non-direct flights are longer, but they are not that bad. Your checked luggage will be transferred through so you don't need to worry about that. You get a chance to get off the plane and stretch your legs, plus there is also a chance for you to buy food and drink other than the limited variety provided on the plane. And of course, you can use the airports other facilities and do some shopping or whatever. Often the time in between the flights is not that much, and I have found it to be a much needed break on many occasions. Since the price is much lower, it seems to me it would be worth considering.

Yes, so did I (going to Mumbai), it really had to be direct, not passing Go, not via Jail, just had to be direct......till I got £375 return with Turkish Airlines (from Gatwick to Mumbai, 3 hour stop one way, 2 hour the other)Suddenly direct didn't appeal as much.
Turkish are doing promotional prices, most likely to Delhi as well, but it was very complex, I found the fare, then took a day or 2 to think about it, decided to go for it, then couldn't find it any more, so I kept searching, changing the departure and arrival dates, in the end I found the fare again.....on the exact days I wanted to fly, only 30 minutes before the fare had been £120 higher for those dates.
I used Carlton Leisure to find the fares, have used them before and had no problems, however, after booking I went to Turkish Airlines website to see if I could select seats now, and they only allow this for flights booked on Turkish Airlines own website (they charged £400 for same dates).

Good Airline Turkish decent food and drinks and very good inflight entertainment...May even have internet by the time you fly Steven. Istanbul airport is good to.
I booked my seats online but found that the seating plan they had online, didn't match with the actual seating plan??

No. Direct flights are only possible with carriers from UK and India. Other airlines (if flag carriers) will take you to your country. To entice passengers to travel with them, competitor airline will discount on a stopover flight between UK-India. Hence, Turkish, Finn Air, and many Middle Eastern carriers offer low fares. Did you mean?
Each airline (except UK or Indian airlines on UK-India flights) uses their main city as their hub for transfer. Turkish would use Istanbul/Ankara (I am not sure which one), Finn Air would use Helsinki, Lufthansa would use Frankfurt for example.

I had the same problem, so wish I booked a few weeks ago. I booked yesterday and had to bite the bullet at £650 with Virgin. I was worried, as I'm going in September, that the prices would keep going up.

re: indirect. I'm not really keen on travelling that length of time, I did just have a look at Turkish Airlines though, for the exact date of travel. It's not good - Depart Wed at 15:25 eventually arriving Delhi Fri 05:05 inc a 10 hr stopover at Istanbul.
But Dil_Se, you didn't make it sound too bad...off to stretch legs, toilet, food, shopping. I'll keep that at the back of my mind
I'm going to watch the price of the direct flight every other day, until it hopefully does drop to £520-40.
everyone, thank you for your thoughts

Hey try Qatar Airways....I flew with them last November and we got a return in March for under £400 and we could change the flight once with no charge! I think we booked it in September too!
We had a 2 hour stop over in Doha and the flight was fantastic!
Good luck!
