Question Flying to India in December

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if December is a particularly expensive period to travel to India. I noticed a difference of about $500 on flights leaving in December as opposed to those leaving in August (from Atlanta to Mumbai).
Is that because cheaper fares for December have no been published yet or is that a pattern I should expect?

I think fares from US to India are more expensive in December compared to Feb/Mar (I may be wrong on this though). This is probably due to the high demand caused by students & others employed in the US who head to India (home) for a visit in December. One reason why I've avoided visiting home during December till now.

XMas holidays in the west vs. blazing August heat and/or monsoon in India will also certainly come into play. XMas period is the tropical high season really (holidays + warm but acceptably so destinations), not just for India. If you can go right before or after things may look up considerably.

Fares from Australia go up about $AUD300 to $AUD500 after the 20th of November so if I leave on the 18th the fares are much cheaper. Its considered the high season after the 20th of November.

You can not beat December weather! The price is possibly the highest compared to any other season. I am afraid that the price may rise, if the $(dollar) keeps on losing it's value.
