Flying from USA to AMSTERDAM, connecting to DELHI
Ok i have searched everywhere for an answer. I have never flown to another country other than the USA straight to India. This time I am flying from Portland, Oregon(USA) to Amsterdam, then onto Delhi from there. When I reach Amsterdam, do you have to go through Immigration and customs to connect to another flight? Do you have to fill out all the forms they give you on the plane if you are not intending to stay in Amsterdam, but continuing onto another flight? I will be traveling alone and I just want to be prepared for the unexpected.
Also the airline issue is confusing for me. I am flying Northwest Airlines, but i guess its actually Delta? Then in Amsterdam I am connecting to a flight to Delhi on KLM Dutch Airlines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Last time I flew seattle to chicago and then to Delhi, so I only had to go through customs and immigration once. Thank you.....you all are wonderful when it comes to answering my questions. I miss India so badly and only had a 6 month travelers visa and i currently applied for the 10 year one and got it thanks you the advice i recieved on here. Have a good day!! |

I have flown to India thru Frankfurt before on Delta. I only had to clear customs in Mumbai. You will be a "in transit" passenger. You will have to leave the plane and walk thru to get on the other plane. My experience is that we always reloaded the same plane.
It really is not as hard as you might think. There will be assistants all the way through the process. Have fun in India!!!!! |

Ditto on what Kayde said. You'll only need to fill out the customs form when you get to India, as your not leaving the airport in Amsterdam. Your in transit so once in Amsterdam you'll just procede to your connecting flight w/o ever going through customs. It's not complicated at all, and if you get confused, just ask someone at the airport. Safe travels!
