flying from India to East Africa

Hi, does anyone know if there are any direct and/or relatively cheap flights from india (delhi/mumbai) to east africa...preferably tanzania?

I know there's a sizeable expat indian community in east africa (well, certainly in kenya) and im hoping this may result in what i'm looking for.

thanks.....kieran

Kenya/India used to have a direct flight (5/6 years ago).. Air India and (I think) even the Kenyan Airline. IIRC, it wasn't a daily flight.

I have flown back to India from Kenya, but via Dubai.

Tanzania to India was with a changeover at Nairobi- a short flight. I remember this well, because there was a possibility I would have to leave from Dar-es-Salaam.

I would check with AI first.

reminder.. this is dated information.

Long shot, air travel sites are really not my strong point, but Kidsan, in the "links" link in my signature you may find some sites to help you along or at least gain an idea. The "Transport-Air" section is what you want; there are many more such sites, of course, but these are some that have stood out to me for various reasons.

ps I have never used the airindia website before and am 'pleased' to see that it is about as user-friendly as irctc

Et

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) flies via ADD to NBO ex DEL and Kenya Airways (KQ) flies non-stop thrice a week from BOM. There are many airlines (mostly European) that will take you to NBO via their hub cities.
