I don't know if this helps, but I just booked a flight from Heathrow to Delhi return for about 400 quid in February-March. Inter-India flights are inexpensive and an easy way to get around. I've flown on GoAir and Jet Airways, of the two I'd pick Jet Airways but GoAir was perfectly fine as well.

Good luck, have a great time!

Flights are more than cost. There is convenience of schedule, where they fly into (go Hyderabad), and what freebies such as low cost stopovers are involved. An ethnic travel agent is serious value added..

We have done similar tours and I would recommend an open jaw ticket, flying UK into Delhi with either BA or Jet. After your tour, return to Delhi, take a flight to Goa. We have used Jet, Spicejet and Kingfisher to fly down to Goa and I would recommend Spicejet as the cheapest and Kingfisher as the best, both bookable on line from the UK.
There are several other alternative options budget options but as we have not used them I wouldnt recommend.
For the return to the UK, I would recommend returning from Mumbai on BA or Jet using the flight around lunch time which means the early morning Jet flight from Goa to Mumbai, Jet will check your bags through to Heathrow even if you choose the BA option.
We have found good prices booking on line with BA, currently for middle/end March £408 for the open jaw LHR-DEL and BOM-LHR.
Any more info required let me know.

Try a few flight search engines. The following spring to mind :

http://www.ghumo.com

and

http://www.rediff.com/faresearch/index.html

I think Ghumo is the better search engine. I just tried a search for the same date on both price engines.

Ghumo gives me a fare of RS 1811 whereas rediff quotes RS 3750 for the exact same flight.
