From international flights out of India I search Yatra and Travelocity.in then go to the airlines site,Yatra aftter their special cash back offer wotk out the best.
For travel to India from the US see the airlines sites and rhen bargain with the travel agent.Nut I find that travel agents in the US give a PNR No (booking ref) which does not tally with the Airlines. You have to use check my trip to get the airlines PNR so that you can check in online

it is known that booking a fight well in advance can save you a lot of money, but what about the visa issue? im assuming (obviously) its much safer to obtain a visa before paying for a ticket, but doesn't that eliminate the possibility of being able to book well in advance? since most visas or some (not sure) are valid for 6 monthes from day of issue? (im in the US) sorry for this stupid questions, but anything dealing with identification paperwork and money does not fly well with me in terms of understanding. i hope this question hasnt been answered, sorry if it has.

Which passport ? U.S passport holders get a multiple entry 10-year visa to India, and 5 year multiple-entry visa to Brazil. Was there a particular country you were interested in ? or ...?

That was our dilemma really. We did nt want to book the fare in case we had a problem with the visa and we couldnt go for the visa till the last minute. So we got the visa and then searched around for the best deal. They were a bit more expensive than when i had earlier looked and not so much choice on the departure, but i would have preferred to do that then stress and possibly lose the fare money if i did nt get the visa.

US passport holders who choose a 10-year multiple entry visa, do not have the stress of holding on to the ticket-reservation and buying before the time-window. However, if you have a shorter visa and a longer intended stay, then you are correct.
