direct flight Mumbai-Bangkok

Hello,

I am searching for a direct flight from Mumbai to Bangkok in January 2009. I found three connections, Cathay Pacific, Jet Airways and Air India (Indian Airlines). The cheepest and fastest connections, and actually my preffered one, is Cathay (157,- Euro). The problem ist, that this flight goes only one day before my desired date. As we have only 13 days in India anyway, I am loath to immolate another day. The second cheepest is Air India (173,- Euro) and the most expensine one Jet Airways (194,- Euro). For me, the best flight time has Air India, because the flight goes at 11:50 pm over night, and we would not have to pay another Hotel night only for a few hours, because the other flight times are in the very early morning.

My big problem now is, that many people advised me against flying with Air India or even warned me. What do you think about Air India or what is your expierence?

The other thing is, that I am wondering about the diferences regarding to the flight times. While Cathays flight takes 3 Hours 55 minutes, the other both takes one an a half hour more. Is this possible?

I would be very happy and pacified, if you could help me and give me some advice.

Best regards
Bebee

Well Indian airlines is not the best ariline in the world but it is safe. As for the options Jet would give you the best service - much better than most Euorpean Carriers - I prefer to travel Jet for the Mumbai-London sector (which I do frequently) even over BA etc. As for the flight times, I am not sure why the others are taking 1 hour more. DO check if it is direct flight or there is a stop over eg at Chennai

I'll second that about Jet over Brit air. I flew BA last year SFO-ISB, then DEL-SFO.
Below standards for service and food

This year it looks like I'll be flying Jet SFO-BLR_SFO on their new service direct to India from SFO.

It's amazing that it took an airline so long to offer direct service (same plane stop in shanghai) to India from SFO- maybe the Chinese were complaining they couldn't get any seats on their to China!

Can't comment on Air India but I've travelled many times with Jet Airways. Their service, hospitality, staff are all first rate.

It may cost a few EU more, but it could take a sting out of an unpleasant journey with other airlines.

Cheers

I have flown with Air India several times and found the experience to be fairly good. Definitely better than British Airways. I would not hesitate to use Air India again if the need arose.
