Delhi to Chicago American Airlines experience

I am traveling this June from JFK(Newyork) to Brussels with American Airlines.
I have a return flight from Delhi to Chicago with American Airlines.
Can anyone share their recent experience with AA and in this particular sector?

Thank you

Thanks nycank but the link you sent was more of the Delhi airport and the whole process of boarding the flight. I would like to know how the flight was from Delhi to Chicago on American Airlines...anyone out there?

They do on their 777 in all classes but only in First Class on their 757!

I pity myself for choosing AA. I am preparing for the worst.

I wish Virgin Atlantic flies to Chennai but they don't.

I just flew Delhi-Chicago this week, flight was for around 15hrs..departed and arrived on time(thats what i was looking for)

Regarding the facilities, they are very basic and food is bad.
Each seat has a small display for movies etc..better to carry your own entertainment stuff along.

But since i have all my connecting flights on AA, it worked well for me.

Hmm thats not bad..as long as they have own display is fine. The food bothers me, I have traveled on Lufthansa a few times and food was just stale...cant describe it any better. I guess then AA, United all fall in the same boat.

Yes.. I flew AA between Chicago and Delhi earlier this year, and found the food was OK in J class. If a decent meal( in coach) is a priority for you, then Air India is probably the best. You could fly Air India non stop from JFK to Delhi or Mumbai, or with a single stop( Frankfurt) from Chicago. Last I heard, Air India was going to have a hub at Frankfurt, with turnaround time on connections no more than an hour..So Air India could work for you, if you needed to connect with AA in Chicago.

Besides, Air India uses a much younger fleet on these segments, than AA does.

J is business class. I had a business class booked on Chicago - Delhi flight. But had to cancel it due to change of plans. I am now taking Air India their new 777 is amazing, one of the best economy class experiences and cheap fare too!

The only thing I would be worred about your flight was to be able to sit for 15hrs+! The food is well just regular airline food, don't expect anything much in economy class.

Oh I hate stop overs so I wouldn't mind just sitting for 15+ and be done with it. Storm9 normal airline food is great in Virgin Atlantic (economy)which I traveled in 2005 unlike Lufthansa,Gulf Air(flew from Bahrain or Abudabhi I think to London). You should consider VA in future and they fly to Delhi but not to Chennai. Any airline anyway you can't really choose and say that we want to fly in the new 777 so am skeptical about AI to landup on an old plane and just heard from many that the food and service is just bad on AI. Both AI and L(ousy)ufthansa are on the same boat. I am looking forward to my Brusells-Chennai sector on Jet Airways, I know it is going to be just great .

I think Air India has dedicated new 777 aircraft to the non stop flights( JFK-Delhi and JFK-Mumbai).The distance requires it.Also, the flight path is very interesting.. it goes as far North as 82 deg latitude( the arctic circle begins at 66 I think), well north of Russia, before coming down south.

Also see review below. I have no connection with Air India, but fly a fair amount( Million miler on AA), and am always looking for a better flying experience. Also, remember, no free liquor( not even beer) on US airlines in Coach.. even on a 15 hour non stop!!Not the case with any non US airline.

Just got back from my trip, delhi-chicago the flight was comfortable but the food was just horrible on American Airlines. Worse than 711 food. I wouldn't travel on this airline ever again and on this sector too.Delhi airport there is a lot of checking and it is a pain to deal with.
