Delhi - Kathmandu flight

Hallo,

I am trying to buy a plane ticket from Delhi to Kathmandu. One that is the best I found through search engine www.yatra.com (I recommend this search engine for finding domestic and international flights from/to/within India)

Now the problem is how to buy the plane ticket.

Jet Airways has a booking system, I have a booked a ticket, but now I need to send them a document with my credit card info (which I don't like). Since I am Slovenian resident it is very difficult to purchase a plane ticket through major cheap ticket sites (either I would need to be a UK citizen, or USA or Canada...well tried to buy it through 4 dealer...no go)

I have found 3 deals:
one is Jet airways (130 EUR)
second Indian airways (the cheapest...just 80 EUR)
third with Jet lite (75 EUR)

Does anyone know by what procedure is the best and safest way to buy this tickets, so that ticket will be valid, that my credit card info wont be misused. Did anyone else buy a ticket in such way that they sent such delicate info to the dealer. I also have one option of buying through a Nepali dealer, but same story (I need to give them my credit card data)

your help will be very appreciated

Errr.... If you want to buy something with your credit card, how do you think this could be done without giving the details?

But they want that I fax it to them through the paper. Did you ever do it in such way?

go to yatra.com or makemytrip.com and book. You only need a printout of the ticket and your credit card with you to get your boarding pass. And they have a choice of airlines to choose from.

Even though it says:
I am an Indian National/Resident by checking this box I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Terms and Conditions

* this is the only part that I am questioning. All the rest is fine. And if I check it positive, then only country available is India

At makemytrip.com Slovenia does not exist .. I will need to call them

they put that there because a lot of times they have different rates for tickets in different parts of the world. For example, competition has forced air fares down so much in India that it is often possible to get even an international ticket much cheaper in India than in Europe. So they put a condition that the journey must start in India.
Anyway to sort out your problem, just take the international bank details of the travel agent in India and wire him the money, rather than giving credit card details.

Sounds like I'm too late, but YES. Jet Airways do not accept internet bookings for their Kathmandu flights. I booked my Kathmandu - Delhi return flight by faxing my card details to Jet Airways. The ticket arrived, my account has not been used by some criminal Jet Airways employee to buy expensive things, I still have a full complement of limbs and all's just fine.

This is how they do bookings for Kathmandu flights and it's legit.

Don't recommend this kind of booking for hotels- or anything else- though.

That is awesome. I would not recommend it to anyone. But just for safeside I always keep one credit card with a really low limit, something like Rs.15,000/- to 25,000/- types. Just for such risky transactions.

very good tip thanks

I was also very lucky, since I remembered I know a friend in Singapore who is a lot in business, so she recommended me a person from whom she always buy tickets and is completely safe and very nice. This made the whole thing very easy and I could call for free in Singapore since I use Voipbuster.

If anyone would ever need such arrangement you can contact me by PM and I can give you contact details.

a low limit credit card is also good for internet shopping. the risk is so much lower.
Most bank try to wash their hands off any losses that you may incur. So much of the time by the time you find out your password and credit card details have been misused, it is too late.
Incase you need more limit for a while, the best is to ask the bank for a temporary increase in limit. But make sure that the limit goes back to low again after your work is finished.
Banks just love to increase your credit limit, if you are creditworthy.

Hallo ,

I first found all available tickets for this destination through:
http://cheapfaresindia.makemytrip.com/international/

Then if you are not from such a small country as I am, you should be able to purchase a ticket through this system. In my case I needed to find a reliable dealer. Since I had a good recommendation from this person from Singapore I bought it through her. The transaction was completely clear, no problems (money taken from my Visa was as agreed, but I think they also offer other ways of payment). Now the tickets is traveling through post to me. I think it should come to Slovenia in next week.

I can let you know when I get it.

Best regards,
B.

I've trying many times, to book online an Indian Airlines ticket to do those sectors at www.airindia.com, everything works properly until I provide VISA information, then I get always this message
.....
We regret to inform that we are unable to service your request due to technical difficulties. Inconvenience is regretted.
.....

Did any of you ever have the same problem?

I was surprised how difficult it is to buy a plane ticket online. I tried at least in 4 web pages and could not do it, but with airindia I don have experience. So I decided to do it manually. Also I can let you know that ticket from Singapore arrived
