Post Cheap Flights? Houston to GOA!

It should be my first time to Goa and I can't wait. I'm planning to leave August and arrive back October. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That would be quite unbearable, I'm thinking of avoiding Goa altogether. From what I hear on IM, it doesn't seem like a place I'd like to see anymore... Maybe if I went a few years ago...

True. Except for cheap illegal substances, the beaches don't offer much. You can go to lots of great beaches 2-3 hours flight out of Texas in the caribbean and Mexico.

I don't agree. Goa has some great beaches that are still great. Go to Agonda or Patnem. And Goa ain't the caribbean where it's super expensive and full of american tourists like your mom and dad. Goa still has some charm and it's cheaper than Mexico also.
As far as cheap illegal substances, you'll find that in the caribbean and Mexico also. I certainly know some beaches in Mexico where everyones doing it. And maybe the OP wants that kind of trip(pun intended).
But it is a ways from Delhi, but theres lots of interesting thingz to see between the two places.

And it's an easy introduction into India with great food.

Certainly you jest ! I presume maybe wrongly you have not been to many spanish and the french caribbean islands ? And pray what does the reference to my parents got to do ? You certainly have not met my parents have you to insinuate such a remark ? I have been going to Goa off and on since '70s. Have seen it go downhill steadily.

First let me say that I wasn't talking about YOUR mom and dad. I assume the OP is fairly young and alot of young people really wouldn't enjoy the same places or style of travel that THEIR parent would. That was my meaning! Why would I say something about your parents, whom I obviouly don't know.

Yes Goa and most good traveler places has gone downhill over the years. Look at Bali 30-40 years ago and then now. But Goa still has nice places. And saying that Goan beaches don't have much to offer. What do Caribbean beaches offer more than Goa? Club Med? Though there will probably be one soon in Goa.

Your right, I haven't been to french or spanish isles there, only Utila off the coast of Honduras, because I can't afford them. And I'm really not into places that MY mom or dad would like or most peoples mom or dad would like. Meaning nice comfortable, safe places where theres a Starbucks or 7-11. I'm more into roughing it(mainly because of budget though) and visiting exotic, less traveled places. Though Goa is well traveled, but not by Americans. Ask an american if they heard of Goa, and 99% won't know it. Ask a Brit and probably 99% will. I was first in Goa in 1990, and it's changed alot since them. But I would still go there. It's not totally spoiled yet. And to the OP, don't be put off by all the naysayers. There's still great places there. And there's still old travelers going there that have been going there since the 60's.

No, I don't jest!

Peace
