Carry-on luggage in India

This is more of an observation than a question, but I just wanted to find if other travelers have been similarly inconvenienced.

I've found that Indian airlines traveling out of India have virtually no restrictions on carry-on luggage. People will bring 3 or 4 pieces no problem and if you get on the plane after more than half of the passengers have boarded the overhead luggage compartments are full, so you may have to spend your 10 hour flight with your one bag stuffed under the seat in front of you. Very uncomfortable.

Seems odd for a country that is so security and bureaucracy conscious.

My hubby and I had the same problem on internal flights between Mumbai & Hyderabad! Only a short trip thankfully. What gets me is (and should probably be used to it by now) the jumping out of the seat before the plane has even stopped on the tarmac, pushing to get bags out of overhead lockers!!

Nothing surprising here I see it in LGA-DCA shuttle in US; Also see this regularly in First Class domestically. Heaven forbid a senator happens to be with one of his COS, or Aide

[Some times I am guilty of it too on shuttles ]

I have seen it too in flights too and from the NYC Metro airports. Does not really happen at other US airports.
