Buying one-way ticket to India

Hi there

I am hoping to fly to Mumbai within the next couple of weeks, but of course it's peak season and the fares are stupid now. I only want a single as I plan to move east from India via Nepal. I have read the posts on buying a single air ticket and I wondered if anyone knew if it is possible to buy a bus ticket, or some sort of evidence that I could show, if asked, that I intend to leave India to Nepal?
Thanks

Is buying a single much less than buying a return.
I thought there wasnt much difference.
You can always buy a return for many months down the line and then change it once you get to India via the airline.
Depends on your ticket, however I usually change my JET airways ticket free of charge for the return journey as it it valid for up to one year!!

I've never been asked to show my return ticket when entering India.

One-way tickets don't always cost half as much as a return, but they are usually cheaper (in my experience, usually around two-thirds the price on international flights to/from India). With some airlines, especially if you book through their website, they'll charge you for each leg of the journey, which essentially means you pay half the price of a return flight for a one way ticket.

Getting back to the OP, I flown into India several times on a one-way ticket and never had any problems (like wonderwomanusa, I've never even been asked!)

It is not so much a problem with immigration, as it is with the Consulate issuing the visa which (in my case) requires proof of a return ticket. However, they accept also the print-out of an online reservation before payment.

Nobody (in my experience) looks at your air ticket in immigration.
