bringing orchids from chengai airport to delhi airport?
well this is pretty much related to planes, and airports.
I am flying over from aus->delhi soon (agg can't wait!!) and want to buy my gf some beautiful orchids from Chengai airport. I'm flying into Delhi airport and was just wondering if I would need to declare the flowers and if it will create a hassle when I go through customs at Delhi airport???
I just don't want to end up having to through the flowers out or something annoying like that, to be honest I'd be heartbroken if I had to.
cheers

You might get away with it as they really are rather relaxed at Delhi airport but actually you need a certificate of cleanliness for bring flowers and plants into India a so called Phsyto certificate, stating that the plant is free of disease and nemitoids etc!!
A flower shop usually can't issue these certificates so it's up to you if you want to chance it!!

hmm I'm arriving at 11pm at night at Delhi airport, do you think this would help my chances???
I've also emailed the shop in Chengai airport asking if they are able to issue such a ceritifcate... on the off chance.

It's really hard to say as Orchids are pretty hard to disguise!! There is a purpose behind these rules, they ensure that disease isn't propogated around the world like Australia for instance won't accept wooden pallets anymore for the same reason!!
Anway I digress, there are people on duty even at 11pm so it's up to you if you want to risk it!!
You might even find your flight won't let you travel with them!!!
