Any experience with Druk Air?

Can you buy tickets or reserve seats from their website? I went to their website and couldn't figure out if you could. What's your experience with them? Are they fairly cheap? Always sold out? My entire backpacking trip is banking solely on their Kolkata to Bangkok route. I'll feel better if I could buy my tickets before I leave for this trip. They don't have offices here from where I am right now.

I flew Kolkata to Bangkok with Druk.

I do not believe they offer online booking, at least not in the sense we expect (you'll probably have to work with someone via email and fax your passport, after you establish contact with them online).

You shouldn't worry too much. The Kolkata-Bangkok route is the cheapest way to Southeast Asia from all of India. The 'standard' rate for Thai Airlines as reflected by the online search/Thai Airways booking office would be something around 10 000 rupees. Travel agents in Sudder Street all offered it for 7000-7500 rupees, cash payment.

When I was there the Kolkata-Bangkok fare was a standard 5700 rupees. With taxes included! You're going to have to buy that off a Sudder Street travel agent. Seems to be the going rate.

I found the airline to be pretty good (the Bhutanese stewardesses are stunning). I guess you can buy a few days in advance and you'll be fine. If you're truly worried you can think about posting in the Kolkata forum, and ask nicely if someone who lives there can go call up the Sudder Street agents for you to check the going rate now.
