The Red Wattled Lapwing is always wondering 'Who-did-it-who-did-it-who-did-it' always loud and shrill.

As winter approaches you will also find a similar, smaller one with yellow at the base of the beak. It is the Yellow wattled lapwing. There used to be a family of these where now the Ambience mall in Gurgaon is. I wonder where it has relocated.I mean the family of yellow wattled lapwings.

I think it is a black bulbul, and I also suspect that it is a youngster, and that its plumage will "settle down" a little later in life.

Wow... what legs! what a beak!

Bulbuls have a crest. Yes, very funky.

Around our place we see the Red-vented Bulbul. We call it "RBS" --- the Red-Backside bird!

Yes, it's a Black Bulbul. ==> Here's another picture.

It helps to ID the bird more easily, if you also mention the place where you shot the picture.

Mridula, do yo have Salim Ali's bird book? That's how I identified your bulbul. If not, then do get it, you'll love it

Although, we'd be sad not to see your posts and pics here

mridula: It is a tough world out there and there is too much competition. One does need such a hair style to attract the females.

If you'd noticed Sharukh Khan can only imitate and still not get it right.

Especially if female bulbuls are your thing

Actually, they have they have a very funky call too! When I'm not calling ours red-backside bird, I call it the ketchup bird as, in its husky voice, it says, "ketchup! ketchup!"

I have a keen desire to go to Bharatpur later this year or early next year and swamp this thread with new bird pictures. Let us see if we can pull it off.
