What a sweetie!

Check out sun birds; they have that distinctive curved beak that reaches into flowers, and can hover as they feed.

Mridula, thanks for the fun. The bird is Brahminy starling as raptor pointed. And paleface, it is most likely hummingbird moth, not exactly a bird, as I can make out some sort of tentacle present only in moths.

I thought it I culd see an antenna too. Hummingbird hawk moth (or its Indian equivalent) is very aptly named; it behaves just like a humming bird.

We have been sighting them regularly in the mountains here and were very excited when we saw our first king vulture.
Recently a mule fell off the mountain and died. We saw it while it was still struggling in the evening lying on the road. Next morning when we were driving by, we saw that the carcass had been picked clean by a flock of over 40 vultures (I counted 42 and then stopped). A very heartening sight

That’s such a good news really and I hope we see the increase in population as I have not sighted a vulture here... or maybe I have not looked carefully for some time now, time for my binoculars.
