You don't get variable wheatear in Eastern Himalayas. Also VWs are much larger than this. Almost like an oriental magpie robin.
Some of my bird photographs are here

And some of my bird song recordings are here

.
It is a winter visitor to the Indian sub-continent.
Yes, a female. It could also be a male. Remember, it is a first winter bird.
To me it looks like a 'laddu'. ..

The grey colour of the bird completely stumped me. The Red-throateds that I have seen and snapped before have always been a bit more brownish. This one looks almost grey. And I looked up and down everywhere for a clue.
I am not too sure but this could be a first winter male, which look more greyish.
Here is my red-throated captured earlier last year near the Sunderbans at Piyali Island.

PS: Didn't see RWE's comments about first winter earlier

RWE good to see back man. i gonna post my owls now and hope that we can find out what they are.
shot these two owls in corbett last month. they are both really big. I mean seriously i was amazed how big they are. Seemed like really cool raptors who know how to do their thing, ie keep the rodent population down. ha!
btw RWE i did write one more trip report. check out The lost lake story!
