Which bird is this?
In your purana killa shots - there is a bird on some man made stucture and there is a bird on a tree. Is it the same individual?
The first and the last is a black kite (just chil, chil, chil - as we say in Bengali here :-) For non-Bengalis - chil means the very common black kite and this pun of a song is used for fun and some harmless leg pulling.
The bird on a tree top looks like could be a lesser spotted eagle. But very difficult to differentiate them from black kites unless there is a clearer image of the yellow gape. In lesser eagles the gape is pretty long and very bold yellow.
These are definitely not buzzards.

Thanks Calcuttan. The bird on top of the man made structure and the tree top are the same (it flew from the top of the structure to the tree top). The last bird was a different individual. So, kite it is then. Thanks a lot.
Then you can just chill, chill, chill :-) These are black kites. They are common and are often treated as pests by us. But in certain countries abroad they are very rare and their sighting is seen as an achievment !!! I find them very handsome and regal.
Id Please!
Nah....tried few option
,now deleted!
. The only thing I see is that the third shot is of a juvenile.

PG,the 1st one looks like Indian Spot-billed Duck. The one I clicked near Band Garden Pune.
Thanks Maumi for your wonderful shot of the pipit.
Lovely Vinathorat! You seems to have done that properly.
Let calcuttan give the final confirmation for both, though both looks correctly identified.

A very happy new year to all of you. National bird is celebrating season too in Delhi.

Happy New Year to all IM members.
Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year to all my friends here.
Maumi the shrike is a brown one, not grey. Those scaly marks on the breast will happen only in brown shrikes and grey shrikes will have a darker and more prominent black ribbon on its eyes.
PG the other small bird is a little grebe.
Maumi I will be curious to know what that unidentified bird ultimately turns out to be. I think on the forum no one has hazarded a guess so far because it is not easy to identify from just that one shot and also lot of regular senior birders are probably travelling right now.
