Would you not share the details on the book(s) here also, Calcuttan, for the benefit of others who follow this thread?

I use this book by Grimmett, Inskipp and Inskipp.
http://www.flipkart.com/books/819565...f-510e20c9fded

And also this book by Krys Kazmierczak (who runs the Oriental Bird Images database and the club by a similar name)

http://www.flipkart.com/books/818710...0-c4cc1055b53c

Both are good but Grimskipp is better to start with.
Some of my bird photographs are here

And some of my bird song recordings are here

... A bird that. obviously, paid a great deal of money to a professional to get it's portrait photograph taken in a studio.

It could not have been better if it had! What an excellent photo!

Thanks Nick. @ Maumi - a rufous treepie, to be precise, as opposed to let's say the grey treepies that are plentiful in Pelling, Sikkim.

Here are a couple of birds I captured in Meghalaya in October.
The first in Shillong town... A Grey wagtail ?
I saw the second bird in village near Cherrapunjee. Our local guide said it was a wild hen....A Khalij Pheasant ?
