A lot of birds in that video!

And which one is this? I clicked it at Havelock (Andaman Islands). And the next day I also tripped with my SLR and the brand new 70-300 lens in the sea. The camera and the lens are gone! Time to buy a new one.

It is a collared kingfisher (credit to Salim Ali, not to me )

Unlike some other members of its family, it seems to know that blue is its best colour, and that setting it off with white and a green highlight, is better than overdressing in a mix of colours!

Yes, that is the reason I posted that video.

Yes, I read your story of 'holy dip' on the other IM thread. I thought you took a 'holy dip' to christen your camera and the lens. Now it sounds more like a 'trip dip'.

Lucky you. That is something you would see only in Goa, Sunderbans and the islands. ..

Nick and Rwe thank you. Rwe the coral poked really deep in my heel, I tried very hard to regain my balance and avoid that holy dip but in the end I made a splash! Expensive one. Hopefully lesson learned.

Oh ... I forgot to mention how sorry I am to hear about your camera.

Did you actually loose it, or did it just get a soaking? A lot of wet electronics can be rescued, especially of you remove all power/batteries instantly --- but salt walter needs flushing out quickly with fresh, or corrosion starts straight away.

Sorry about the heel too. I've heard that coral cuts can be nasty.

Mridula,
Sorry to hear about your camera, and your coral wound. They can be nasty.

Look who visited my balcony this morning:

The last pic is a bad effort at red eye removal but is enough for getting an ID Im sure?

Which owl is that?

I was shooing some crows away when I heard a rustling sound in the leaves and there he was, such a beauty.
Length about 9 to 10" high and really, really cute. He stared at us with those gorgeous round eyes of his and continued minding his own business. I went in for a moment and thats when I think the horrible crows shooed him away.

Wow! You are so lucky (and skilled) to get such a wonderful visitor, and such excellent photos!

I'm not surprised, though, that the crows were unhappy.

Thanks for your kind words Nick. Lets be honest though, the photos are really noisy!

No idea who he is? I got confused with those pussy cat ears. Not that I have my books around.
