I'm planning for a trip to Sasan Gir in Dec is there any online booking where I can book Safari in advance? or any contact number where we can call & get the status? as we have for bandhavgarh.

Do we get the safari booking on the spot?

That's what we did. We had hoped that the booking office would arrange our afternoon safari at the same time we arranged our morning safari, but even that was not allowed.

Our lodge was eager to handle the bookings for us. Our driver, on the other hand, knew someone who got us a better deal.

Note that the word "safari" conjures up images of grand treks into the bush. In fact, each of our safaris was limited to a 2-3 hour drive on well-traveled dirt roads through the park, leap frogging other Gypsies with visitors. I don't know how many are in your party, the Gypsies can hold half a dozen or more but if you are only a couple and don't mind throwing money at it, you can have the whole thing to yourself and a driver and required naturalist.

So this means there is no way to book this safari ride or in your word Gypse rides online, then from where we can book this before going there. I don't want to be in situation where we reach there & everything is full.

That is certainly our understanding. But we are by no means experts, just passing tourists.

If you can so arrange your schedule that you can make the morning safari, you should have no trouble most of the tourists like to sleep in, even though the game viewing is probably better in the morning after the animals have had some time free of gawkers. Mind you, you or your agent will have to muster out quite early to be in line before 6:00 AM to sign up at the park's booking office. (And wear a sweater we found it chilly early on.)

But we were there on a weekend, and we went on the afternoon safari too, when the mayor of Rajkot and her entire city council and all their families were there, plus about a gazillion other tourists, and there was no problem accommodating everyone. Got a little dusty with all the Gypsies toodling about, though.

Perhaps, if you're really-really worried, and you've made plans to stay at some resort or guest-house, you could contact them to see whether they can assure you that they will be able to arrange the safari for you.

Thanks for all your help hfot2. I'm planing to stay at Sinh Sadan Guest House which was suggested as one to the most reasonable & good place to leave and also near the Gir Forest.

Thanks

Seems like a good choice.

Google Maps shows Sinh Sadan Guest House as being in the middle of the parking area for the Forest Office.

Lonely Planet India says "The place to go for more information about the park is the Gir Orientation Centre which is next to the Forest Office inside the grounds of the Sinh Sadan Forest Lodge."

Sounds like you've cleverly arranged to be right smack where you need to be to book your safaris most easily. Good luck.
