Hi guys,

Had been to Ranthambhore National Park in the first week of May 2010 and had some wonderful sightings in the wild - Tigers and birds.

I have posted the detailed trip report on my blog "http://mybioscope.blogspot.com" in the form of two posts -

2)Birds of Ranthambhore

Hope you enjoy them...

Cheers!!!

Very nice report and pictures.
Zone 1 and 5 are not good normally for tiger sightings...Since I visited Ranthambore (first year = 1996), I had never saw a tiger in zone 1 and only 2 times in zone 5. The other zones are good or very good and zone 3 is really beautiful (lakes, tigers...).
From France, I hear the call of tiger, just 8 days to wait and then I will reach Bandhavgarh and Ranthambore.

>> I had visited ranthombhore in jan, and had been to zone 1 twice...no tiger sightings...I visited ranthombhore again april end, and zone 1 & 5 turned out to be the best tiger sighting zone during that time... I had been to zone 2 (twice), zone 3 (once,That day T-17 had come out of the zone and was resting near the road), zone 4 (twice) but no tiger sightings..We had 3 tiger sightings in three safaris(one sighting was awesome, tiger sat infront of our jeep on the road for 30 minutes).. and one good sightings of a male tiger in the water hole for 20 minutes...

It all depends on what time of the year you are travelling and luck...All zones have good chances...

@Brijwasi, Raptor: thanks for your comments

@imtiazkhank: agree with u, chances of seeing a tiger are equal across zones...just a matter of luck. While we didn't see any tigers in zone 5, people who went after us sighted it.

I agree. Summer months are your best bet if you wish to see a tiger in the wild. I have been to Bandhavgarh & Tadoba in summer months & had good tiger sightings.

Ronak.
