| Tigers in Kabini May 2008 My 86 year old uncle, an old wildlife hand, called me early this morning to proudly announce that from his coracle, he sighted a tiger with cubs on the banks of the Kabini river. This happened yesterday and it was the first time in all these years that he sighted a tiger in the wild. Wish I were there ! |

| Brilliant! Lucky man. I guess the water levels are well down now, so she must have been a long way from cover. We visited Kabini in 2004 and saw only pugmarks of tiger and leopard, but had fantastic views of elephant as well as loads of other, smaller wildlife (mongoose, giant squirrel etc). Great place to stay, albeit very expensive, but you only have to ask for anything you want and it's done. It's supposed to be slightly easier to see tigers around Nagarahole village. Mike |

| Hello Mike Yes my uncle also said he saw loads of other wildlife but was particularly excited about his first wild tiger. He said they stayed at a reasonably priced place, but knowing him it could have been anywhere from a village house to a forest department resthouse ! karnatakatourism.com has a list of hotels if you are interested. I havent been there yet but hope to go sooner rather than later. |
