Tadoba / Pench

What would be good option Tadoba /Pench?
I will be leaving from Pune - Nagpur. As far as, I see Pench is closer than Tadoba.
But, which sanctuary would be worth to visit?
I am planning to visit in April.

patilsushant001 Feb 13th, 2009 20:11

of course, my interest to get some sight of tiger..
So, you think in that case Pench is better than Tadoba..
Thanks for the information:)

hi All,

Is it good idea to visit Tadoba even in immediately after Monsoon?
Will we get any chance to see tigers and other wild animals?

We are planing to go there on 2nd to 4th October.

We went to Tadoba, You cant compare two national parks as they all having pros and cons.

Considering good Tiger density we decided to go for Tadoba, but unfortunately because of Rain and our badluck we were not able to see tiger. :(

Tadoba has limited Accommodation options only 3 Hotel/Resorts are there. So if you are planing plan it in Advance.

Shalik Jogwe will arrange all for you, he is available @ +91-9420303020. Contact him between 10-2.30 PM or after 7 PM as he is daily visiting park.

Rushi

Params, unfortunately we could not make up that time.. As far I understand, there are not so much good chances to spot wildlife unless you get a chance to venture into the core area.

I'd been to Tadoba one month back. Wildlife sightings were bad but we had a fantastic experience. Few parks are open during Tadoba during monsoon and it's a different experience. It rained midway during our safari and the atmosphere in the jungle is just magical! And we did see a tiger too.

I've been to Pench (MP's) and had good wildlife sightings. Didn't see a tiger as my visit was not recreational. But had a "night safari" there (not for general tourists).

I would suggest Tadoba over Pench any day if tiger sighting is a priority.

Hi all,

I am planning for Tadoba on 26th & 27th Dec. I know chances of spotting a tiger at this time of the year is less. But do you think its very difficult to spot one OR if its slightly difficult as comapred to summer months??
Did any of you guys spot Tiger recently in Tadoba(i.e. during Nov-Dec time frame)??
Do you think that it will be a complete mess to go at this time of the year because of heavy rush ??
Any specific safari operators, guides etc. that you can recommend ??

Thanks in anticipation,
Suppatramp

Dear IM's,

Greetings for the day...!!!!

Pench would be a better option these days....Two female tigress has given birth to 8 cubs last month....so if you guys are luck can spot them....so the hottest location for spotting tigers & cubs would be Pench....!!!

Gud Luck

Karmajiri gate

Yes female have cubs but there are located in Karmajiri zone, not Turia zone where all lodges are.
So it should be difficult to see them...

I have never visited pench, so no info.

Regarding Tadoba, Chances of tiger sightings are very good compared to other parks. (Some roads were blocked after monsoon, they have not yet opened it till Nov end, Hope they opened it)

One info about rush during festivals or holidays, Almost all National parks in India have a cap on number of vehicles allowed per safari. So during festivals there will be maximum vehicles than normal days.

For eg: During dec last week, there might be full 20 vehicles in Moharli range...On any weekend, There will be around 15-20 vehicles. So rush doesnot matter to national parks.

This year I will be trying to make it to Tadoba :).. First step I have reserved train tickets..
I need some information about travel to Tadoba from Nagpur. What are the commuting alternatives available to go to Tadoba from Nagpur? What is the name of place where we are supposed to go?
Any suggestions about budget accommodations? Also, I would need some details about safari inside the park.
Thanks in advance!!

There are some answers in this thread http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...igers-t116100/

rushijoshi Feb 22nd, 2011 16:15

Sushant,

In which train have you booked the tickets?
If you have booked in Vidarbha Express then I would suggest you to get down @ Wardha Station, which is coming @ 7.30 AM in the Morning.

There are lot of buses going to Chandrapur from Wardha in the morning (7:45, 8:30, 9:00 AM) which is 4 Hour Journey. Confirm your bus timing with Warda Bus Station (07152 - 242368).
If you are lucky then you might get direct Bus to Tadoba from Wardha.

Tadoba is odd 20 Kms away from Chandrapur and taxi may charge you 400 RS par journey.

This way you can make your evening Safari as well.

As suggested by Aarosh refer other thread.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Regards
Rushi
