Rathambore Question
Hi
I would like to know if you have to pre-reserve the tickets for the park or you can arrange everything when you arrive.Does someone know the prices of the tickets and the tour on private jeep? Any recomendations of a nice hotel there? Thanks a lot Kruska ![]() |

I pre-arranged the jeep and canter trips through a travel agent. When I booked there were only spaces in canters (the larger trucks) left, but by the time I got there, they were able to find spaces in jeeps as well, so I had 2 jeep and 1 canter trip.
I don't know how easy it is just to turn up and try and get on a canter on the day, but if you're going all the way to Ranthambhore, I'd suggest you pre-book. As for hotels - how much are you looking to spend? I stayed at Khem Villas, which was lovely but not cheap. Their prices (for all meals, but not alcoholic or fizzy drinks) are: Cottages: Indian Rupees 14,000 (single occupancy Rupees 12,000) Tents: Indian Rupees 11,500 (single occupancy Rupees 9,000) Rooms: Indian Rupees 7,000 (single occupancy Rupees 6,000) |

The travel agent I used is a British ex-pat in Delhi, Emma Horne, who works for a company called Himalayan River Runners. I used her to book accommodation, train tickets, cars & drivers, guides, as well as the safaris. Friends living in Delhi had recommended her services.
I'm sure lots of other IMers will have their own recommendations for travel agents. |

I'm staying at Khem Villas in December, they advised me to book the safari on-line, I think they open 90 days in advance. You can book them through the Rajasthan web site, I don't have the link here, but it's easy to find.

We were in Ranthambhore in 2006 and stayed at the Ranthambhore Bagh. It was a great place and organised all the safari trips for us. Check out their website www.ranthambhore.com
We thought their rates were very reasonable and will definitely return. |
