Ranthambhore VS Bandhavgarh in late May?

Hello! This is my first time posting. Thank you in advance for being so helpful.

I'd like to get your opinion on Ranthambhore vs Bandhavgarh in late May. I wish I had time to visit both, but I only have time to visit one or the other.

Ranthambhore: Pros- Not too out of the way (we're also visiting Jaipur and Udaipur), Cons- I read on IndiaMike that the tigers are (unfortunately) disappearing in Ranthambhore.

Bandhavgarh: Pros- Best chance of tiger sightings & elephant rides to get close, Cons- It's very out of the way! We wouldn't be able to spend as much time elsewhere.

Also, what are the chances of tiger sightings in late May? I have read that the dryness and heat of April actually increase tiger sightings around the water holes. But the heat will be much more extreme in the end of May. What will our chances be then?

Thank you so much!

Seeing tigers

Hi

I would personally recommend Bandhavgarh. I've been to both and yes, your right it is easier to get to Ranthambore but I had 11 tiger sightings in Band. and only 2 in Ranthambore. One of the sightings was 2 youngish tigers REALLY close up!

I'm not sure about the weather re sightings I was there in March/April and it was hot and dusty then.

Hope this helps!

But if you really want to see tigers then summer is the best time. I hope you won't mind the heat if you get good tiger sightings.

I understand that the heat is intense during late May. But we're visiting India for a close friend's wedding in early June so the dates can't be helped. But I appreciate the warnings and any advice on how to beat the heat!!

It is best in Bandhavgarh and in May!!! The tigers are best seen at that time!!! Take precautions like drinking a solution of Electral (rehydrating salts) mixed with water. Use a cap and wear long sleeved shirts and long trousers to keep off the heat and sunburn. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.
