Prologue: Its winter , the birding season is going on full swing in India. Quite understandably, its raining birds in IM , the last few week have witnessed some beautiful threads here by our renowned fellow IM ers with vivid story telling and photography, this has probably awaken me from my slumber After much deliberation, I am presenting to you ,a few of my amateurish photographs from my latest travel.

Start...

I badly needed a reboot , if i had a ON/OFF switch I would have done it myself. Due to the technical difficulties & other design shortcomings , I had to choose a more human way- a week in the wilderness and doing my favourite thing i.e. photography. I tried to choose a few lesser known places like Tal Chappar, Shekhawati, Jorbeer, Sariska and an exception-Bharatpur . As the days rolled by, all I could dream was the wide expanse of a grassland , radiating under golden-orange hues of the December sun and run amok by a large herd of black bucks and raptors flying over-head.

Only hiccup in the entire dream was that my entire travel plan relied heavily on our whimsical Railway system which was notorious for unpunctuality during winter months, particularly in Northern India. Also, given the uncertain nature of my travel plan, I had to book a lot of these tickets in Tatkal , which I did in between the trips- beating the clock and bad Internet connection is another achievement of my trip

Undeterred by the long delay of the train , we reached Talchappar on 24th Dec afternoon, for our 2 day stay and safari :

Beautifully sculpted, a lone black buck

Intimidating the other males from its vicinity:

It says donot disturb :

Flock of Bar- Headed Geese:

Silhouette of their lovely pattern , seems they formed pairs while flying in formation.

The park gets ethereally beautiful at sunset or sunrise , under the proverbial golden light . Some dreams are for real :

A defensive stance, typical landscape of grassland and bushy trees:

The dust raised by passing of vehicles added to the dramatic light. Almost immersed in the reddish hue :

Witnessed a wonderful sunset, want to go back just to watch it all over again

A steppe in its flight

They look more graceful, when they make that jump

Amazing, what to say! Got myself glued to your pics.

Mind if I ask about the gears you used, especially the body and the glass?
