Periyar or Bandhavgarh?

Hi Guys,

I really want to do an animal safari type thing in India. Preferably on Elephant back.
I'm trying to decide between Periyar or Bandhavgarh national parks.
Has anyone experienced both/either with stories to tell?

In Periyar its not elephant safari, but its a boat ride on Lake !!

I was there in March this year and failed to see any wildlife..barring couple of birds !! Very Disappointing !!

I was in Periyar this January and it was very disappointing. A few deer, a few otters, a few birds and a few placid monkeys. The boat ride was pleasant but that's about as much as I can say for the place.

Apart from Boat ride Periyar has other things to offer also. Check out their Ecotourism Programmes.

While in Bandhavgarh you can go for elephant safari (Short duration they call it Tiger Show) & for jeep safaris. Bandhavgarh is your best chance to see a tiger.
