Thumbs up Pench Tiger Reserve

Pench Tiger Reserve

Pench actually lies on the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Accomodation at Pench is a nice place to stay while at Pench. All the sight-seeing trips can be booked there too.

a nice bargain given the type of wild-life, accessibility, quality of service etc..

Web-Pointers - http://www.wildphototoursindia.com/p...er_reserve.htm

a nice small post of details of Pench.

worth a visit folks.

The link did not work when I tried it, hope it is a temporary glitch.

Would love to go there someday as I have seen the Bandhavgarh Tiger reserve before which was really fantastic so even this one should be good atleast!!! Thanks for sharing your views here, much appreciated.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Just wondered if anyone else had experience of Pench? We're wanting to spend a few days over Xmas at a nature reserve and Pench sounded like a good alternative to Bandhavgarh. But there seems relatively little information available about it. Has anyone stayed there?

Thanks for replying. Basically I want to know what it's like in late December - things i've found on the web suggest it's not the best time to visit as it's so cold. We're keen to see wildlife, but not obsessed with seeing tigers. Do you know what Kipling's Court is like as a place to stay? That looked like the only one we could afford. Any further information would be good.

Otherwise we'll probably go for Bandhavgarh, but Pench sounded like an interesting alternative.

It's raining tigers @ Pench Tiger Reserve

According to a report in TOI, Mumbai 10 cubs were born in 10 days & 2 more tigress are pregnant. This is excellent news.

Read full report.

Maunishbhai, I was also overjoyed to hear this news, hence decided to share it on IM. Expect similar news from Bandhavgarh where at least two tigress are pregnant. Out of which one of them is to litter any time.

I am taking family of 10 to Pench. Do you guys have any recommendations for a good place to stay at? It doenst have to be fancy. Paying 5000 per person for 3 days seems like a expensive business to me.

Something near the park and some privacy will be ideal.

Thanks guys!

I did go to Pench and everyone in the family had a good time there. I did not get any replies from the forum and ended up renting rooms in Kipling's Court that is owned by the MP tourism department. NEVER go to this place. This place has worst value to the money and everything is like a 'sarkar kaam'. Its not as clean as most of the resorts in Pench. The food was mediocre and the staff was not very pleasant. There are no other perks to it, like swimming pool, clean play ground, machan, other outdoor activities.

I stayed at Baaz for half of my trip, which is around 4 km from the game. To be frank, it doesn’t matter how far you are from the gate if you are going to be outside it anyway. It’s a different story if the resort is inside the gate. We liked the resort and their food very much. The staff was nice and helpful. Baaz is one of the expensive resorts in Pench though. There are several other resorts in Pench which are in the same class as Baaz. There are some more expensive ones too, like Mowgli Resort.(if i remember correctly, its the one owned by Taj groups)

If I had the means to obtain information, I would have stayed at Mowgli's Hut. I dont know about the food there. This is a cheaper option if you are a big group and want to stay for a longer time. The guide told us that it costs around 700Rs. per night for a bedroom. Food is not covered. I saw the bedrooms from outside and they looked very nice. The best part about Mowgli's Hut is that it is inside the park gate! It’s near the Karmazari gate. (Baaz is closer to the Khawasa gate).

My recommendation is Baaz since I have tried and tested it. If you are a adventurous kind, go for Mowgli's Hut and let us know what you find. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. Write back after your trip.

Btw, we did 2 safaris but didn’t see any tiger. There's only 22 tigers in the safari area.

how about the wild life experience? I am planning to visit Pench /Tadoba end of April. Also, do we need to book the resort rooms well before or it can be managed on the spot?
