I had driven down to Kanha and Tadoba this June. Sharing a few wildlife photos from the trip. Excuse the excess of tiger photos - I am passionate about these big cats.

Some logistics information for those who might be interested:
  • First day I drove from Bangalore to MPTDC Rukkhad Bison Lodge, after Pench. It is a nice, value for money place beside NH7. Food is good - ideal for stopping over for breakfast when traveling from Nagpur to Kanha or Bandhavgarh. One can even take a vehicle inside for safaris (I did so)
  • MPTDC Kisli Tourist Hostel, Kanha - where I stayed - is decent. The location is wonderful, and there is running water 24 hours. The coolers get the job done. There are far more comfortable places outside the forest gate, but staying 3 kms inside the forest - even if in a dorm - is worth it. You can always stay at MPTDC Bagheera Log Huts - which is located beside the Tourist Hostel - if your budget permits.
  • Road conditions are good between Nagpur and Tadoba, at least during summer. Expect broken patches if you travel after the monsoons.
  • Some of the closed zones in Tadoba have opened - so expect better sightings from this year.
  • NH7 - leading North from Nagpur - can become horrendous after the monsoons. Check if the state highways/interior roads are better, if you need to travel to Kanha or Bandhavgarh from Nagpur
  • Temperature was about 45 degrees (sometimes more) in the first week of June. But bearable, with sunscreen, hat, lots of water and an Arab type head-dress.

Mods,

I mistakenly posted the thread in the Madhya Pradesh forum. Can you move this to Travel Photologues forum, or perhaps the Wildlife and National Parks forum please?

Thanks. I wish the images were organized better, so that I could put a caption for each, or perhaps give some context behind each photo.

For that, you may upload the images in Images Section, and link them through Image Attach icon ().

Alternatively, you may enter into Edit mode. Then to Go Advanced, then click U-pin icon (Name: attach.gif
Views: 530
Size: 97 Bytes), you will find titles of images. You should click each titles. A number will be generated in the message box around Attachment code for the clicked images.

Then you may put titles.

Thanks. Here are a few more photos, as well as a brief itinerary of my trip:
Day 1: Drive from Bangalore to Rukhad, MP. Via Hyderabad and Nagpur. Stay at MPTDC Bison Lodge. ~ 1200+ kms drive
Day 2: Rukhad to Kanha via Seoni. Stay at MPTDC Kisli Tourist Hostel inside the park
Day 3, 4, 5, 6: Kanha
Day 7: Kanha to Tadoba via Nagpur. Relaxing drive
Day 8: Tadoba
Day 9: Drive back to Bangalore after the morning safari. Some 1100 km.

I love driving and roadtrips, so usually drive to Central India whenever I need a tiger fix. Some of my travelogues and photos (from roadtrips to Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Tadoba, Masinagudi, Kumaon, Galibore, Bhadra, Nilgiris etc.) are posted on Team BHP, the automotive forum.

Thanks :-)

When shooting wildlife, it is a good idea to focus on the eyes.
