Info required for Corbett tour in march
Hi, I am planning to visit Corbett with my wife during 1st/2nd week of March 2010. I have initially decided to stay 1 night at Dhikala forest rest house and 2 nights at Tiger camp.
My plan is:
Reach Ramnagar from Delhi by train -> Go to Dhikala forest rest house->Afternoon/Evening jeep safari of Dhikala ->Night stay at Dhikala forest rest house ->Next morining elephant safari of Dhikala->See the watch tower etc and then move to Tiger camp->leisure activities with my wife and kid->Night stay at Tiger Camp->Next morning jeep safari to Bijrani->Fishing/other leisure activities by the river side->Night stay at Tiger Camp->Next morning Jeep safari to jhirna->Leave for delhi afternoon/evening.
What is your opinion of the plan? Please let me know if you have any suggestion.
Also, can anyone provide me the following information?
1) How to reach from Ramnagar to Dhikala forest rest house?
2) What are the charges of double bed rooms in Dhikala forest rest house?
3) Does the forest rest house conducts jeep and elephant safari? What are the charges and how to book for them?
4)What would be the weather/temperatue in Corbett during 1st/2nd week of march?
Thanks...

KMVN arranges a customizable 2 night-3 day trip ex delhi wherein if you are 4 people, you could get a car of ur own.
The stay is at Dhikala FRH and is inclusive of a jeep and elephant safari + the meals..
might sound interesting to you.. because ur itinerary looks very similar.. except that there is no resort in this itinerary. Its all at FRH, but highly recommended.

It look quite costly, moreover getting only one day for roaming around jungle. But they guaranteeing Dhikala FRH that is surprise :-) "In this life we cannot always do great things. But we can do small things with Great love"

Hi Brijwasi,
No i dont think the KMVN package is expensive at all... they charge 5.5K or thereabouts for accommodation for Dhikala FRH + meals(which are actually decent) + one jeep safri(which otherwise costs about 1050/-) + one elephant safari + to and fro travel from delhi.
I think this is reasonable
.
but yes, it depends on the taste of the people fr wildlife.. if you like luxury, then its not for you.
However if u want to be close to nature and feel the jungle, then go for it!

Hi Pradipta...Dhikala is a great place to stay and maximize Tiger sighting.I visited in late Feb with our group in a hired bus and it was ok in day but cold in morning/evening/night so better keep a jacket or light warm cloths.
I just posted my experience of Corbett in the following thread, hope you find something useful:-

Thanks to all for your help.

Hello Pradipta,
The charges for the rooms at FRH Dhikala are published on their website. to book a room you must send your request by fax after they confirm you must make the payment to reserve your accomodation. Please see the link below.
http://www.corbettnationalpark.in/page_visit_ctr.htm
Have stayed @ frh Dhikala in May 2008. We had sent a request but the same was not confirmed. we reached ramnagar and went to the FR office and welcome center. We were told to wait until 12:30 so that if there are any cancellations the room will be allotted to us. We pestered them till they alloted us a room @ the old rangers accommodation at FRH DHIKALA. this was okay. it cost us RS. 600 per day . the Better accomodations ofcourse cost more and we would have happily paid for whatever we got as we wanted to stay at Dhikala.
The elephant safaris are ex-dhikala and you need to book them here. cost is RS. 250 pp I think. again the rates are given on their website. Canters leave from Ramnagar and have a midway stop @ dhikala.
The Jeep /gypsy cost us Rs. 2000 for 2 days from Ram nagar to Ramnagar. Our driver took us to the FRH showing us the forest we drove for about 2 hrs before getting to the FRH and then had another safari in the morning. we spent the day after checking out hanging around the FRH and left in the evening @ 4 PM. Drove through the forest and arrived in Ramnagar @ 7 PM. Overall the trip was great although we dint get to see the tiger. lots of elephants and deers, crocodiles and rare birds.
Hope this is of help
Mani

Hey there guys, can anyone help ?
I want to go to Corbett in the next couple of months, but I am being given some very high quotes for accomm's,safari's, etc.
I queeried these high costs
and I am told that there are some very heavy increases by the park authorities, as of 1st Jan'2010.
The previous poster left a link to the corbett weblink.
Those are fairly old fees. Can any one tell me the latest fees ?
I want to stay inside the park at one of the FRH's, but they seem to now be a rediculously high price, as do the safari's ?
I cannot seem to get a reply regarding the new tariffs, only a total package price is forthcoming, and as I said it seems way too high.

Tigerman,
Those are the tarrif that we paid @ may 2009. if you go through a travel agent/resort then the prices will be high.
call the following no 05947 251376 /05947 253977. these are the nos of the forest officer dehradun and they have a quota for corbet and will be able to give you prices aswell.
apart from them also call the forest officer's office @ the nos given on the website to know about the current prices and situation.
Please do not belive all that you hear from the resort/travel agent.
All the best
