We will go there in the end of October - or maybe beginning of November.

It is our first time in Ranthambore (and India!) so I do not know how the online bookings work - only that they open October 1st

The site says:
-If you have any query , please feel free to contact ranthambhore@rajasthanwildlife .in

My 3 rd Visit

Well This is my third visit to ranthambhore. I know How the site work. You have to enter the passengers names, age and their id details. Please keep every thing ready at the time of bookings. You also need your credit card details. Payment has to be made through visa or master card only. So Keep everything ready at the time of bookings. In fact let me inform you that twice I had done my gypsy bookings 6 months advance because it get full about 2 months in advance. But keep fingers crossed. Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks

So that is how it works? I did not know that we pay in advance - I thought it was only booking. Good to know.

I think it is too late to open booking October 1st.. I e-mailed them and they said we have to wait until then - not possible to book before that...

Maybe if you e-mail them also you get better answer :-)

We have hotelreservations done a long time ago - only jeeps left to book!

Thank you very much!

It is not that easy on the spot, Hitanshu. The jeeps get booked very fast. About this website too there have been several reports that all is not as transparent as we would like to believe. Better take the help of the hotel rather than be stranded or be left with the Canter as the only alternative.

I didn't realise that you can book any earlier than 90 days for
Ranthambhore; I'm confident you can't book six months in advance.

If the site open on October 1st then just be ready and do the booking. Worse case scenario is that you can get a Canter, which is no way as good as a Gypsy but it's better than not doing a safari.

One more idea for those going early on in the season and desperate to have a confirmed booking: I think that Ranthambhore Bagh can sort you out as they seem to have their own allocation jeeps/guides (from what I've read). This may be rubbish but a quick email/call to Aditya/Poonam is definately worth a try.

Having said this, if it was me, I'd just make sure I was online on October 1st.

Would you care to elaborate on your comment?

I booked online a couple of months before going and paid my money. Before making the booking I checked how many gypsy seats were available and after I checked again, to make sure that the availability had been reduced, it had.
We went armed with the papers for the bookings, handed them to the hotel who arranged for the jeep to collect us each time, we did the safaris, it was all quite simple.

Boss,

I have been there just once. We didn't even know what time to go for booking, etc etc. We landed up at 130 for the 2pm (?) entry into the park, and the gypsy safari tickets sold out ONE person ahead of me.

That was in December and even all the canters were full. Hence, my belief.

But yes, better safe than sorry anyday - that's what i do myself in a foreign land!!

You are right. I checked with friends, regulars to Ranthambhore and it is fine. No issues with booking jeeps on internet. The website used to be down frequently earlier. This too seems to have been fixed. I stand corrected. Thanks.

About Aditya/poonam, Ranthambhore Bagh. They are enthusiastic, helpful and effective. Of course they do not have any special allocation of jeeps.

yes ! ! !

Of course its will work. But as I stated earlier that please keep your details ready at the time of booking. Even a refresh of the web page and your seats are gone. So be armed and ready. Please pin me if you need any assistance. This is my 5 trip to ranthambhore.

Thanks Henchman

I went in April and booked my first four safaris as soon as the days were available to book. With three weeks before my first safari I decided to try and book another 4 gypsy places, thinking that I'd just end up with Canter places, but it was no problem.

Yes, it's good to get in there as soon as you can but it's hardly like the rush of ticket bookings for a sell-out concert or something. So I don't think there's a need to panic about it.
